Shouldn't firewire target mode be password protected?

I started up my powerbook with firewire target mode yesterday, and suddenly I realized that I had acces to all files on the powerbooks harddrive from the host computer, without any authentication! Is it supposed to be like this, or have apple forgot something here? I think you should have...

    apache on 10.2 problems

If you want "http://129.x.x.x/~ryan" to work. Try to specify the servers IP (or dns-name if you have any) in httpd.conf instead of letting apache figure it out by itself. In your case: ServerName 129.x.x.x

    Netscape doesn't like my "text/html"-mimeType-files

Figured something out (?) : Maybe apache doesn't understand that it should send the html-files a text/html and sends it as the "defaultType" text/plain, but Explorer is smart enough to understand that it really is a html-file and "renders" the file. If this is the case, what might be wrong?

    Netscape doesn't like my "text/html"-mimeType-files

When the Apache webserver on my OS X Server 10.2 serves html-files, they don't work in Netscape 7 (and maybe in some other browsers), but they work in Explorer. They display as they should in Explorer, but Netscape just shows the source. Have enabled PHP, and php-files works. So "server...

Apache config behind firewall with portmapping

The case: I have a computer running OS X Server 10.2 on my local network with IP 192.168.0.2. And a "broadband-router" (netgear) with IP 192.168.0.1 (LAN IP), that forwards port 80 on my public internet-ip (217.215.x.x) to the OS X Server (192.168.0.2). It almost works as it should now...

    SSH Problem

I used to log in on my server running OS X Server 10.1.4 with SSH. Worked perfectly. I have now upgraded (erase and install) the server to 10.2 and gets the following error when trying to connect. [Xtephan:~] stephan% ssh admin@192.168.0.2...

    Upgrading OS X Server 10.1.4 to 10.2

Does the installer for OS X Server 10.2 work as the installer for OS X Client 10.2? Can I "upgrade" my system and keep all the configuration I've made on the server? I'm using Apache, PHP 4, MySQL, AFP, Built-in FTP Server, Built-in SSH, Timbuktu Pro. I have password-protected directories on...

FTP remote administration of Webcontent on OS X Server

I have never been using the FTPServer before, so I don't know why it behaves like this. I have never changed any settings. It works perfectly when connecting with a user that has a default home-directory. I'm only using the server for personal use, so as long as it's not a security issue...

FTP remote administration of Webcontent on OS X Server

This means that I change the location of the webserver-files? In that case, I rather create a non admin user and serve the pages from there, like buc99 says I should? Cause I lose the advance of having an untouched httpd.conf-file. Or, what do you guys think? /Essage

FTP remote administration of Webcontent on OS X Server

I thought I answered that in a previous post... - Because I know that Apache will behave like it should if I don't change anything in the httpd.conf. That's why. Ok. It seems like it's not possible. So I give up... The pages should be accessible directly by the IP...

FTP remote administration of Webcontent on OS X Server

I finally found out where I land when connecting via ftp. In "/Library/FTPServer/FTPRoot". Why didn't I think of that earlier  So thats whats not right. Why am I landing there? Maybe it's impossible to administrate "/Library/WebServer/Documents" with the configuration of the built in...

FTP remote administration of Webcontent on OS X Server

Well. I don't know everything about the apache webserver and mac os x server. Accually I have never used a webserver myself. Therefore I thought it would be better to stick as close to the defaults as possible. And I don't know how changing the socument root affects everything. What should I...

FTP remote administration of Webcontent on OS X Server

That didn't help :( I've never used NetInfo before. I don't know what I should be looking for. But I think the set up is correct. The homedirectory is the right one (/Library/WebServer/Documents). While browsing around in NetInfo I notised the similarity with:"/ config SharePoints" and...

FTP remote administration of Webcontent on OS X Server

It seems like I, for some reason, created a new Document-folder with the user admin. So the owner was root and group was admin. I re-created the documents folder with root, so root is now the owner and admin is the group. [localhost:~] admin% l -d /Library/WebServer/Documents: drwxr-xr-x...

FTP remote administration of Webcontent on OS X Server

One thing that doesn't work: When I log in via ftp, I only get the directories "Public" and "Users". I'm not in "/Library/WebServer/Documents" where I want to be. If I log in at the computer with the ftptoweb-user, the "home-button" takes me to "/Library/WebServer/Documents", but via ftp...
