    OK, I started out by originally installing OS X 10.0, then I applied the [comprehensive] 10.0.4 update. After that, I applied the 10.1 update (not the full install). These update were done over a period of months as they were made available. Now my main problem is that I get a kernet panic...

    I just wanted to point out that I didn't do the whole drive swapping thing. As a matter of fact, I didn't do /anything/ different from an ordinary day. And why OS X decided not to resolve domain names today is beyond me.
