Mail.app not changing from "Sent" to "Sending"

The option you're referring to isn't available under "Mailbox behaviour" (this is Mail 2.1.3 on an OS X 10.4.11 machine). The only option there related to sent messages is "Erase copies of sent messages when:" It's a POP account. Cheers, John

Mail.app not changing from "Sent" to "Sending"

I actually wasn't (and am still not) aware that it was actually possible to change where sent items were saved. I don't see any settings in the "Accounts" area that would allow this to be changed. But in any case, messages I send do get saved in the "Sent" folder.

Mail.app not changing from "Sent" to "Sending"

Hello all, When using mail.app on a MacBook and sending a message, the folder "Sent" changes temporarily to "Sending ..." and displays a spinning progress wheel, and eventually it changes back to "Sent" once I hear the "whoosh" indicating the mail successfully went out. However, when using...

using PC wireless card with airport at same time

Hi all, I have one of the aluminum PowerBook G4s that has a lot of trouble with signal strength with the internal airport card, so I purchased a Motorola WN825G PC card. What I'm not sure how to do is tell OS X to use the Motorola card instead of the Airport card. I'm hoping it's not...

dual layer DVDs and Mac Mini

Never mind: I figured out that the problem was that the -testburn flag for hdiutil doesn't appear to work when using dual-layer discs. I figured this out because I was able to burn the image without issue when using Disk Utility.

dual layer DVDs and Mac Mini

Here's another oddity: the drive is identified as a MATSHITADVD-R in both Disk Utility and in the "ATA" tab of the System Profiler.

dual layer DVDs and Mac Mini

Hi all, I have a backup script that I wrote that uses hdiutil to burn an image file to the disc at the very end. I want to switch to 8.5 GB 2.4x DVD+R discs owing to the size of our backup data (we had been using regular 4.7 GB single-layer discs), and the Mac Mini we use for backups has the...

    hdiutil burn problem and permissions

Another update: the 2.5 GB .dmg file burned without issue, so it does appear that the problems were related to the size of the prior .dmg file. This makes sense, since our backups had worked fine before until our fileserver had an extra 1GB of data added to it overnight. But why can a 3.8GB...

    hdiutil burn problem and permissions

It does not appear at this point to be a physical problem with the drive or the DVDs, as a) I can successfully burn individual folders to DVDs without issue, and b) when it fails, it does so *immediately*, as if it scanned the .dmg file and decided right away that there was something wrong with...

    hdiutil burn problem and permissions

Followup: I tried creating a .dmg file of just the mail folders and burning it, and that worked ok. So now I'm baffled. I wonder if it's a size issue: when altogether, the files amount to a 3.83 GB .dmg file, but that shouldn't be too large for an 8GB DVD. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

    hdiutil burn problem and permissions

Hi all, So a while back I wrote an Applescript to handle our office backups, and among other things it uses mount_smbfs to grab some mall folders off of individual machines and copy them to the file server. After everything is on the file server, the script calls hdiutil to make an image...

If by "Updater" you mean "Software Update", there's an option in one of the Software Update menus to "Ignore Update".

image file size oddness in Tiger

Thanks for the suggestions, all! Here are my responses to what's been said: I actually had tried this out of desperation at one point but it didn't help, unfortunately. Originally the files were JPEGs, but I tried saving them as Compuserve GIFs after switching them into indexed color mode...

    Untitled CD

I'd try umount from Terminal: umount -f /Volumes/[nameofcd] That often works for me when stuff won't unmount from the GUI.

Outlook Ex. Contacts to text file

Here's one thing you can do, assuming you have a copy of Entourage X (this works with OE 5.02, so I assume it'd work with 5.01): 1) Make a folder on the Desktop 2) Highlight all the contacts in Outlook 3) Drag the contacts from Outlook into the folder you created in the Desktop 4) Open...

Intermittent SMTP send failure with Mail.App?

The SMTP server is on-site (in fact, on the same subnet as the machines in question), and has no reports in its logs of any trouble (nor does it report a connection failure). The SMTP server is multi-homed, but that shouldn't affect anything.

    Desktop not loading at all

One thing to try might be to press command-option-escape and see if the "Force Quit Applications" window comes up somewhere, and if it does, whether the Finder is listed as running. One other remote possibility is to mount the drive as a firewire drive (assuming that you have another Mac...

    Desktop not loading at all

If your machine supports booting to OS 9 (the newest Macs don't) and if you have a proper OS 9 System Folder in place, then OS 9 will be a boot option from the "Startup Disk" system preference. Have you tried booting into single-user mode and running fsck yet?

    Safari rebelling against default behavior?

I wish that Adobe's PDF Viewer worked in Firefox; it's superior to PDF Browser, especially since with PDF Browser you can't highlight and copy text, as far as I know.
