    Applecare doesn't cover batteries

On a side note, applecare for ipods covers the battery, but only if you can prove it has lost MORE than 50% of it's charge.

    Applecare doesn't cover batteries

It's a perfect analogy. Both are insurances of some form, and neither cover the consumables of a product. Why should we hold one company above the industry standard?

    Applecare doesn't cover batteries

Comprehensive car insurance doesn't cover the loss of gasoline if you are in a wreck.

    Another cnet article bashing apple

I guarantee you Dell, HP, Cray, etc charge quite a bit more than 100 dollars per hour to put together a super computer, and then to test it out extensively, etc.

    Mini IPod Prices

You're first statement invalidated the rest of your arguement. Obviously price is not the driving force behind mp3 player sales because the iPod is winning. Obviously the "normal user" thinks quite a bit of the size, considering the amount of high end flash players that are sold. Why bother...

I'm not sure what that has anything to do with this. ALL of the top 500 are cluster systems of some sort. The majority of those aren't technically clusters, but they are essentially "super clusters".

Sim City 4 on an old iMac

I ran Sim City 4 on a dual 1.25G4 with the ATI 9000. It ran decent up until the point where you had 15000 or so sims in your city. After that, the game was so slow it was pointless. I heard Sim City 3000 was just as bad because it was a very poor port.

Cnet actually does a good job of staying neutral when it comes to Apple. I've read the same amount of pro-Apple articles as anti-Apple articles. That's what happens when a news site isn't totally devoted to Apple. Not everyone likes what Apple does, which I expect. Seeing both sides of the...

    Another cnet article bashing apple

Prove it. Do you realize how much people get paid JUST to put supercomputers together? I'd wager a guess that it's quite a bit more than 50 dollars an hour, since that's what people get just to fix a personal computer here in town.

    Mini IPod Prices

A lot of you are missing the big picture here. The ipod mini is NOT competing with the iPod. There are certain people who are more concerned with the size of the player, not how much stuff you can put in it. You have Joe Smith who wants a flash storage player to go running. He doesn't need...

No it's a very valid arguement. I whole heartedly disagree that custom designed supercomputers are coming to an end. The only reason VT was able to do it so cheaply was because of numerous hours of volunteer help. Businesses would be forced to pay people a large some of money that schools can...

The linksys card works fine. Just make sure you have updated to the newest Airport software before installation. Pop the card in, turn on your mac, and away you go

    G5 vs G4

I think the biggest misconception here, is that 64bit will increase performance in ALL apps, which is simply not true. A typical enduser has no use for 64bit at this time, simply because no enduser apps will take advantage of the 64bit info. The biggest change will be in audio and video...

    The Panther 7B28 Thread

No no. F9 does something for me... I can tell that it activates something (background turns darker), but the windows don't shrink down like they are supposed to. IE, using Safari now, it stays in the foreground.

    The Panther 7B28 Thread

Is the "All Windows" feature of expose working for anyone? According to the Apple webpage, it's SUPPOSED to shrink all windows so you can see them all at once. It worked this way in the DP, but it's not working right for me in 7b28.

Anyone having draw problems with Sim City 4?

I'll put it this way. There isn't a Macintosh around that will play SimCity4 decently. Course there really isn't a pc that will either.
