Console connection from OS X to a Network Device

Yeah, I do Hyperterminal for console connections. Probably the only reason why I keep my PC around. Just finding a way to get rid of the damn PC.

Console connection from OS X to a Network Device

I'm trying to hook up my iMac running OS 10.2 to a network device that accepts a serial 9 pin connection using 9600-8-1-N. I can do this very easily with a PC using Hyperterminal, but how do I accomplish this using OS 10.2?

    macosx as vpn server?

I just found another IPSec client on the Mac. It's VaporSec, and it works pretty good. I've only tried out the client, but they also have a server piece too. Check it out, http://www.afp548.com. Only thing is it doesn't have xauth support.

    macosx as vpn server?

You're probably best off going with a VPN vendor, and have that do the encryption. I can't recommend any due to the fact that I work for one, and my opinion will be completely biased

    macosx as vpn server?

Ok, my bad. So you are looking for the server to terminate VPN connections, and your other clients need to VPN into that. Correct? What type of VPN software is running on the clients? I don't know how vpntracker is coded, but it may still be possible that VPN Tracker could do the job. If it...

    Who is portscanning me?

The only way to tell is to sniff the line. I've never tried tcpdump with a dialup connection, so I don't know if you will be able to see anything.

Networking an iMac with a PC

I would recommend a firewall. Unless you are a wizz at configuring access lists, get a firewall, which will NAT all private addresses to one public address. This way you kill two birds with one stone ... give PC and Mac access to the Internet, and protect yourself.

    FTP Configuration File

Does anybody know if there is an equivalent configuration file for the ftp daemon built into OS X (similar to httpd.conf with Apache?) I've noticed that when I FTP to my OS X from the Internet (and the Mac is behind a NAT'd firewall, with appropriate private to public mappings), it shows my...

    macosx as vpn server?

There is one from VPNTracker. It requires you to have OS 10.2 or higher. The only drawback is it doesn't have NAT-Traversal support. http://www.vpntracker.com

VPN Tracker for Mac OS X

Anybody try using this program yet? It's the first IPSec VPN client for OS X. Looks like the minimum requirement is OS 10.2. Looks like an alternative to MacPGP, but doesn't use x.509 or NAT traversal. http://www.equinux.com/us/news/detail.html?id=47 Thanks.

    Jaguar: IPSec VPN Client?

IPSec VPN Client in Jaguar I've read through some of the threads regarding Jaguar, and it barely mentions IPSec functionality. Because of this, I'd like to get some opinions out there (for those developers who actually went to the WWDC). Is IPSec included natively in Jaguar? If so, does it...

OS X as a tftp server

14 Anybody try setting up Mac OS X as a tftp server? I'm trying to use Mac OS X, with the tftp server built into FreeBSD, and I seem to get some access violation errors, but everything I try doesn't work. What is the secret? Thanks. Ron
