That hardly describes it. It sucks so bad. I love my iBook but it's just so slow. I was comparing it to my buddy's 600mhz with only 128 mb ram and the 100mhz bus, and his was way faster (and I have 640 ram!!!) Now THAT's crap.

Your iBook probably was one of the early 500mhz models. I have the same one, with DVD and 640mb ram-and don't worry-you're not alone. IT IS SO SLOW. It's that darned 66mhz bus speed that makes it that way. The later books sport a 100mhz bus.

That's what it's gonna come down to... LOL I am a 19 Year old, married, POOR college student. My wife and I are both working overtime to pay off the debt from the wedding...I think the wireless connection will have to be put on the backburner for a bit. :(

Hi- So, I've hooked my ibook up to my 17" lcd monitor. I have very little desk space and want to keep the iBook CLOSED without having it go to sleep, so I can use it with the LCD monitor but not have it take up as much desk space. Is there a way to set the ibook not to sleep when I close it...

First of all, thanks for the info, rhino. I tried shift, the apple key, etc...but never tried C! I was able to get into the Jag installation folder on the cdrom and REINSTALL...ouch. Did I back up? Of course not. And I had to perform a fresh install b/c I had a newer version of os x installed...

I was able to run Norton and I had a virus. How, I don't know? But it messed up Jag so I am having to reinstall it. :( Takes forever on my little 500mhz g3...Oh well!

So if I needed to boot from the Jaguar CD, how do I do that? It's in the drive already...but I'm so new to macs and I don't know how to make it boot from CD. PLEASE HELP!!!

OK, here's what happened. I was downloading 10.2.1 update. I then restarted, and it would never fully restart! It stays on the screen with the Apple and the spinning circle for A LONG TIME...then the screen goes grey for like 3 minutes...then OSX starts up...but I can't move the cursor at all...
