i got a iBook 500 from work, and upgrade to 10.2.2 and all seems fine, but is damn slow, and it has also 320 ram, what is up with this?

Your iBook probably was one of the early 500mhz models. I have the same one, with DVD and 640mb ram-and don't worry-you're not alone. IT IS SO SLOW. It's that darned 66mhz bus speed that makes it that way. The later books sport a 100mhz bus.

That hardly describes it. It sucks so bad. I love my iBook but it's just so slow. I was comparing it to my buddy's 600mhz with only 128 mb ram and the 100mhz bus, and his was way faster (and I have 640 ram!!!)
Now THAT's crap.

I have the G3/500 iMac Indigo model. Is this one an early 500MHz model too ? Or not ? Will it speed up with some more RAM (I'm planning to add 512) ?

greetings,

my sister has one,i do all her tech work, and she was so fed up w/10.1.5 that she had me nuke the drive and install OS9.ironically,on my wallstreet it feels a little faster,it must be that faster bus.i recently resorted back to 9.2.2 and have never been happier, when i get Tibook then i'll come back.I wish apple would have kept things simpler, this quartz extreme is cool but is a real resource hog.all this power under the hood ,way too much emphasis on looks IMHO.leave that to XP.

my 2 cents,

Techie
