10.0>>10.1 and Beyond

Moof!
Trying to play it cool here. I've reinstalled 10.0 and downloaded the Security Update as well as the 10.1 update, but neither one can "be installed on this computer" according to Installer.app. Also, Software Update talks with the Apple Server for at least five minutes; I stopped it. Help!

I'm up to 10.0.4! Neither the Security Update nor the 10.1 Update will install; Installer.app coolly informs me that "this software cannot be installed on this computer." Any ideas? Software Update.app says my "software is up to date."

where did you download a 10.1 update from? apple never offered such a download.

furthermore, software update will not take yuou from 10.0.4 to 10.1. you need a CD for that. as far as it is concerned you are up to date.

The installer update is for Mac OS X version 10.1. It will not work with versions lower than that. You'll need to install OS X 10.1 (not 10.0.1), before you can install the Installer Update and all of the other Security Updates. I wonder why it even shows up in your Software Update control panel, anyway.

lethe: I think he meant he got the 10.0.1 update, and it seems he is now up to 10.0.4.

Is there a 10.0.1 update anymore? I thought they put out a combined updater that took you to 10.0.4 or something like that (been way too long since 10.0.x, can't remember).

I forgot about the 10.1 CD. I was at the Apple Store in Mall of America to get it. Duh! I'm up to 10.1.4 now and about to install XDarwin.
