10.2.1 update did not upgrade my mail.app??

I know one of the updates of 10.2.1 was to Mail.

But... all I saw was an application called Mail in /Applications

This app was 770k and had no icon. Clicking on it would only try and fail to open the real Mail.app

So I just trashed it, and now I don't know if my Mail.app is updated or not. It looks the same.

I tried those solutions and nothing worked

I tried deleting chimera, and putting Mail.app in /Applications

Software update found no new updates. Also "installed updates" is always blank.

Anyway to just download it from Apple?

put mail.app in applications and then run the 10.2.1 update. you can download it from VersionTracker.

I tried that too.
I downloaded 10.2.1 pkg from apple, 17 MB

i had Mail.app in /Applications

after it was done, and restarted, modification and creation dates and version number of mail.app were all the same.

sigh

whatever

I think apple left out the Mail update. I still have issues sending mail at times and my mail app was not updated with 10.2.1

Navigate to the application folder and control click on the Mail application,
select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Open the Contents folder and check the Date Modified in list view on the files within. You should discover that it was indeed updated.
