10.2.4 Kernel Panics

Is it only me, or does 10.2.4 seem a little bit more opt to having a kernal panic than other versions of OSX? Ever since i've upgraded to 10.2.4 I've had more kernal panics than I ever used to get. In fact, I never had any until i went to 10.2.4! Im sure just a small tweak here and there would fix things up, but I sure hope Apple fixes it in the next update (which Im sure they will). Does anyone else notice the same experience?

Ah, well..I've only had about 2 (maybe 3) total so far. And I find this unusual for such a well-built OS like OSX. I did upgrade with the combo updater thing..

I had them occasionally. After reinstalling over X then applying the combo as mentioned, my system has been crash free.

I've had a few over the last couple years. Two were related to a USB floppy. 10.1 was not happy when I accidentally unplugged it before unmounting it.

Another one had something to do with me changing network locations (Apple Menu>Locations) and I guess not giving it time to switch.

There were a couple panics where I couldn't determine a cause.

I had my first panic in over a week. The system was running fine, iTunes was playing through my stereo, then they gray trail of death and the endless repeat of iTunes. One thing i noticed, iTunes did kill out the sound earlier, something it did before, when i had to reinstall my system. i have nothing hooked up to my system, so i'm not sure what it could be.

I think it has something to do with iTunes. I had a MP3 cd in my dvd drive, so maybe when it gets a song or something, because thats the only thing each panic had in common.

I've had many since 10.0. I've also had crashes that haven't even got to the kernel panic stage, including on bootup.

I put it down to 4 things: Network locations, Sleep mode, firewire devices, lots of disk activity.

However, repartitioning, reinstalling and using the combo updater has made a big difference to the general smoothness & stability of both my Cube and iBook.
