10.2 - ftp mounting problems.

boi

official breaker of macs.
no matter how i log into an ftp server, jag won't give me write access. it just plain won't let me upload stuff via ftp mounting.
anyone know what's up?

I have tried connection to an ftp server using the connect function in the go menu and typing in the ftp address. I encountered long delays after I was asked for the log in and password finally having to relaunch the finder.

When the finder restarted I found the ftp site mounted on the desktop! I tried this several times with the same result.

yeah, i have to go through all of that to get an ftp server mounted as well. it's just that once it's mounted, i can't move files to it.

I think I heard before Jaguar came out that FTP access via the Finder was going to be read-only... Can't remember the source, but it sure seems that way.

Source was several rumour sites. FTP _is_ read only in Mac OS X 10.2. Mine works great, though. I sure hope we'll have write access to FTP-mounted volumes in 10.2.1, but for downloading stuff, browsing software archives and the like, it seems faster and better than using other FTP client apps. But as a 'real' FTP client has many more features, anyway, I think we can safely say that the Finder won't replace them for now.
