10.2 install problems from 10.1.5

trying to upgrade to 10.2 from 10.1.5 and it just sits at what i think is an install screen that has an apple in the middle and a small animated circle of lines below it, after it reboots. I updated the firmware to 2.4 ( I have a g4 dp450 ). I've combed apple support and all they say is to check the cd or try a new one. has anyone else had this problem?

you should back up your stuff, reformat your disk and make a clean install to avoid hassles... dunno why it hangs, tho. How is your HD partitioned now?

This is just a remark. I have a G4 450DP also. I sucessfully upgraded to Jaguar without any problem. Sometimes dual processors react differently to certain applications, but here (thank god) the X.2 installer worked a charm.
Are you trying to install it on a SCSI HD? I saw that a lot of people had problems doing so.
I don't recall updating my firmware though, I could be wrong.

Good luck.

myI think my DVD/CD lense had dust on it, I placed in a cleaner, tried again, and it worked properly. If that worked, or it was by chance, i have no idea, just glad it worked. Sometimes it sits for a while, I'm sure it was so long you knew someething was wrong, i think my first got at Jag did that.
