10.28 to 10.4 uprade on G4 iMac

I' ve tried to upgrade to 10.4 (family full version) on a 800mhz G4 with a fresh installation of 10.2. DVD mounts fine and on restart the white apple screen stops and lots of writing appears ovewr the start up screen saying

panic ( cpu 0 caller 0X002E54BC) : unable to find driver for this paltform "PowerMac 4,5".

lots of other stuff and at the bottom of the page
panic : we are hanging here .....

What have I done - How do I fix it

It starts fine again in 10.2.8 if I eject the DVD

sorry - I'm an idiot - using the wrong installation disc. Thanks for pointing it out to me
I had the disc for my new imac in - hardly surprising it didn't work
