10.4.6 causing kernel panic

I and a friend both have mac book pro, we just installed the 10.4.6 update, and upon the demanded reboot no problems, but upon a subsequent reboot we have the dreaded kernel panic screen that says you must reboot your computer, hold down the power button for blah blah blah....

Two different machines, same behavior. I have had to format and clone back an old image to my drive to fix it. I would like a better solution if one is out there.

it boots in safe mode no problem, and I can bring it up as a slave drive on mine to run disk repair either way.

Any help is appreciated.

Okay,

My other genius friend figured out that it might be the mac mini driver that we both used to fix the wireless peop issues we were having. After switching back to the original driver, which you should have backed up if you did this too....it works great.

Best,
