That's right, my state school is having a special on the 15" Powerbook:

1GHz G4, 512MB, 60GB, DVD-R/CD-RW (Superdrive), 15.2" screen, Gigabit, 56k, Airport card for $1999 (including AppleCare 3 yr. warranty)

Buy a $269 iPod and get $200 off, too.

You won't find this price at the online Apple store, ed. discout or otherwise. Is this a good deal considering that new revs of the 15" are likely to come out soon? Especially considering that the low-end of the NEW 15" will probably go for $1999 or thereabouts (the price of the current, 867 MHz, low-end 15" powerbook) and probably have an upgraded processor (1GHz G4, maybe).

Thoughts?

Probably a good time & good way to unload soon-to-be-obsolete merchandise.

If you need/want one, go ahead. I wish I had $2G for a new computer. A laptop would be useful for certain types of things, especially college. I'd drive down and buy one.

I would not call those powerbooks "soon-to-be-obsolete". If you need a powerbook and have 2000 $ go for it. :D
