1800xp for g3-g4 ?

Iv been a PC kinda guy for many years now and never really had seen the need to switch, untill now!

I say that because i recently attended a local apple store on my area and was just very impressed with its design and feel of it in general, and that adding to the previous impression i had after playing with my little sis's new toy (ipod), so there you have my reason sumed up.

Now back to business...

Since im not really familiar with macs, im guessing a g3-g4 and over 400 mhz would be a reasonable offer for the gear ill be listing here..

Here are the specs..

1800xp Athlon, clocked at 1.53 mhz stock

kt266A chipset mobo (supports latest AthlonXP up to 3000xp), has 2 x pc133 slots and 2 x 266ddr up to 2 gig ram. Will work with either pc133 or ddr ram, has ac97 audio, and VIA rhine NIC, 2 UltraDMA 133/100, 6 USB 2.0, etc...

256 333mhz DDR Kingston, retail purchased at best buy.

Radeon 9200, 128 ram ddr, agp 8x, also purchased at best buy for $99 over a month ago.

32x cddrive Sanyo

48x24x48 Sony, CDRW-DVD Rom (Ill be willing to part on this one only if you happen to have a burner + dvd rom combo as well otherwise ill include a generic 52x cdrw driver)

Note:There is 120 gig Western Digital 8 meg which i probally will not be including so ill be more then welcomed to accept your offer without a HD, assuming ill be using mine.

Also Ill most likely be keeping my Antec case as well, (will probally donate to my mother for your information). So if thats the case i may also be willing to shell extra $$$ for your offer to keep you happy Case's arent that much anyways. You might pick one up at newegg for under $50.

Anyways... i may be missing something here that i havent mentioned, so if you have any questions feel free to drop me a line.

Oh and there are pictures... and i have boxes and manuals/receipt for most if not all parts on this system.. iv built this system very recently..

here are the pics...

Now keep them offers coming!!!! I am very reasonable when it comes to doing business

Update:Thanks for one of the (Mods i assume?) for poiting it out to me about boards guiderules.. i initially didnt really see a need to set a price tag on it since i wasnt really looking at the $ aspect of it, but im open for offers now if thats the case.

Estimated value is $500??? for the complete system including the Antec case and 120 gig Caviar Western Digital 7200 rpm 8 meg cache and Radeon 9200.

This system will smoke any 2.4 celeron or 1.8 p4 in terms of performance, i know that for a fact. Its a very smooth system, im able to get over 100 fps on 1.6 Counter Strike, and cooling is excelent, average 40C temp under heavy stress load. I only use quality parts, not the cheap DELL/COMPAQ crap.

once again, im not very familar with the PPC arch, still open to offers tho..

Hate to see it go ::angel:: but its time for a change.

I think you are posting in the wrong forum. No one here would give away his/her mac. There is a special connection between these ppl and their macs.. ;)
Anyway, welcome to the forum :)

I don't think you'll be able to find anyone very interested in the trade, and I doubt you'll see much more than $200 for a system like that which is used.

Right now, not including the case I could rebuild it as follows with new parts:
*Board, Processor, RAM, Video Card, 52x CD-ROM, 52x CD Burner, 120gb WD HD for $295
*Above without HD for $190.00

Some of the Beige G3s are still selling in the $200.00 range right now. You might be better off trying to eBay it, but you'll probably need to keep the whole computer as itself there...one unit instead of trying to keep the case or HD, etc.

Look on Yahoo!'s auctions for a Mac, just be carefull. Macs there go for less than they do on eBay. Stay away from anything listed by a yahooid brew77 (or something like that, will say Paradise Web Design in the description). Check his feedback if you want to know why.

Im not even sure what to say about that one.. I dont think iv ever asked for a brand new system to begin with, and if you really must go down that path id say 80% of the parts contained on this machine were purchased within past 2-4 months.. heck theyre still under warranty and i have receipts for it, mostly purchased at local retail stores (Best Buy, Circuit City) not your usual cheap online OEM crap. can you see a few of those boxes sitting there? ---> http://www.parisi.ws/photos/hardware/cornerbv3

I have boxes and manuals for every single piece still wraped on plastic.

So wheter it is "USED" or not it really is irrelevant to the point... isnt it?

Once again, my answer to that would be, No you wouldnt.

Youre comparing the usual pricewatch crap with the real deal here..

Check on prices for retail value of these..

This is the real deal, for instance i dont have a clue where you will find a Radeon 9200 (The ATI retail version), for $30, those prices are just absurd.

I suggest you check on newegg.com how much those go for these days, $92 last time i checked. This particular one was purchased at best buy for $99 about 2 months ago.

"Artec 52x32x52x CD-RW $30.00"

You really cant be serious about this one..

Im not even sure how you can compare that to the brand new,(purchased 2 weeks ago), Sony 48x24x48 DVD ROM/CDRW combo im including, once again payed $89.

I could go on and on about it but i was just hoping to clarify a few things here and there a little.

I didnt even mention the Antec Case (Which i will be including after all)

http://www.antec-inc.com/us/pro_details_enclosure.php?ProdID=92600

I will probally take you suggestion to keep this unit as whole, so ill thank you on that one.

oh, and on the ebay suggestion, i stay away from it.

The top price on a 9200 Raedon is 85$, that being the ATI branded version. Just an FYI, the Saphire branded ones are the exact same card made in the same plant, just have a red board instead of green and don't charge you a premium for the name (ATI). You weren't very clear on including the Sony...a misunderstanding on my part, my bad. Regardless a Sony CRX320A CD Burner / 52x32x52x CD-RW/ 16x DVD-ROM / with Nero Software is only $90 new. So it would be fair to subtract 10 to 20% for the slower/older version. Couldn't find that case, but a similar one (SLK3700) which is visually identicle but with a larger power supply runs $65.00.

No, same stuff just from a supplier who doesn't charge outrageous mark ups. 2 months in the PC world is a long time, and prices can fall dramtically. You may have paid $700 total or more 2-3 months ago, but now it'd be around $500 max.

As far as the used part, how can the parts be in "plastic" as you've said if you said this?

"This system will smoke any 2.4 celeron or 1.8 p4 in terms of performance, i know that for a fact. Its a very smooth system, im able to get over 100 fps on 1.6 Counter Strike, and cooling is excelent, average 40C temp under heavy stress load."

That statement leads anyone with common sense to believe it's been used. So knock at least 25% off that $500 for that.

Regardless, the point is that you'd be better off trying to sell it elsewhere. A linux board would be a better choice than a mac one. Very few people here would have a use for it. You may luck out, but I wouldn't get your hope up. Any way, good luck.
