Hi!
I have a G4 powerbook running OS X10.4.6

I was wondering if i can run both os 9 and osx on the same laptop.

I tried to "boot" from the CD of OS 9.1 which came with my G4 PowerMac but it doesn't boot. when i tried to run it in osX, classic was launched but could not install..

Please advice as i would like to make 2 partitions ( one for os 9 ) one for OSX.

Cheers!

If your PowerBook is a 1GHz/867MHz or older, it will boot to OS 9.2.2.
Older G4 PowerBooks will boot to OS 9.1

What do you mean by boot to os 9.2.2?
Do i have to install anything?
i m using powerbook 1.67ghz
Do i have to install os 9.2.2 and how i go about installing it.

Please advice.

Just read BobW's post again. It means that newer PowerBooks can *not* boot into OS 9. I.e.: You can't install it. You can only use it through Classic.

Oh..
so sorry about that.
So i should start looking for a 9.2.2 installation disk..
and it should boot to that and install right?
Cause i desperately need OS 9 installed on that laptop to work.
;(

Cheers!

To save a lot of headaches, you should first determine what model your Powerbook is: what speed processor it has, etc. Saves you looking for an installation CD if it can't run it ;)

as bob said, if your powerbook is 1ghz or slower, you can install os 9. if its faster ( which yours is ) it can not install os 9. so there is no os 9 install cd of any version that will work on your laptop. you can only run os x on it.
