Hello All;

Well i have run into a huge problem with my I-pod, for somereason when it tries to play a song it'll eitehr freeze, or don't play the song at all and try to proceed onto the next track, but does this indiffinetly. So i tried doing a reset according to Apple's support pages, and everytime I do that i get the Folder Excmanation mark sign. So what i did is perform another reset (according to the apple support page), and i was able to enter the unit into disk mode.Howevery computer does recognized my ipod, but you can't access it through I-tunes or even through my computer. I tried using the I-pod updater and it doesn't even recognized it either. As i have my ipod connected to my computer, i could see the "Do not disconnect sign", and the HD is spinning and it seems like the head is trying to move to another sector on the HD, but it's having troubles.

Anyone here can help me with this ? I don't feel like buying another ipod, and unfortunatly my warranty had expired already :mad:.. any help well be appreciated..

Thanks

Ed..

does the ipod updater see it? if it does, run it to reinstall the ipod's os. if it doesn't, i'd say your ipod's hd is hosed and needs to be replaced.

I would love to say it does ! But the updater doesn't even detect I have a Ipod .. it says please insert ipod ...

When you say "the HD is spinning and it seems like the head is trying to move to another sector on the HD, but it's having troubles" do you mean that it's audibly and repetetively "clicking?" If so, the hard drive is most likely shot. A hard drive replacement at home is possible, but tricky and unforgiving.

Apple does do repairs (albeit expensively), as do others. This place looks worth checking out:
