3rd party FW cards...

I was wondering if anyone had a 3rd party firewire card working on their system.

I had a card that I transfered over from my 7500. I transfered because I figured I would eventually need it. For the longest time, I made do with the 2 FW ports on my Mac. One connects to an UMAX 6400 FireWire scanner and the other connects to my Sony camcorder.

However, recently I acquired an iPod and a Dazzle DV bridge...

I tried using the 3rd party FW card and it doesn't seem to work!

any suggestions for getting this card to work would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I had this error once too. My solution was to boot into OS9, used the OHCI firewirecard under OS9. Than restart into OSX again and from that moment on my noname, but OHCI compatible firewirecard was also working under OSX. Wired, but it works, at least for me.

I tried it and the card did not work under OS 9 either....

it must have bitten the dust at some point. oh well, I just bought a 6 port firewire card (for a total of 8 ports).

I never thought I would have 5 FW devices connected at once!
