80gb hard drive upgrade problem

i just replaced my imac g3 with an 80gb hard disk drive and it wont let me install osx its say the disk is full and i try to erase it but i dont know if im doing it right can someone help me and help guide me to erase the disk right?

I think you'll have to partition it so that one partition is less than 8GB. You should then be able to install OSX on that small partition.

(I'm assuming that you meant to type "I just replace the HDD in my iMac G3 with...")
