A few problems

Convert

Hey!

Basically, my whole OS has been kinda weird lately. The most noticeable things would be that iTunes randomly launches from time to time, in a series. So, the first time it happened, 2 weeks ago, it happened 4 times in 10 minutes. iTunes would just keep launching about 20 seconds after I closed it. It's very random.

Also, the dock, sometimes when ever I 'approach' it, it magnifies, but only the bottom half moves. It's a very hard thing to explain. But as I navigate through the dock, only the bottom of it rotates, in a sense.
But then it goes back to normal.

When browsing on Safari and scrolling down a long page (like the Forums), sometimes parts of the page gets merged with another, it looks really bad.

It is all random.

When using Expose, sometimes it's slow to react, or not smooth.

And when waking up from Sleep, the laptop can be really unresponsive.
I still have the Calc problem (Calc not showing on screen, but still launching program)

Any idea what's going on?

Running 10.3.7 by the way... I have a screenshot of the Safari problem only problem I can get a screenshot of to be honest...

Try fixing your permissions. Open up Disk Utility, select your boot drive, and click on the "Fix Disk Permissions" button. That will usually help with problems like this.

If that doesn't help, you can restart from the Install disk, and check that the drive is ok from there (there's a menu option in the installer to check the disk).

And if neither of those work, download the Mac OSX 10.3.7 Combo Update (97MB) and reinstall 10.3.7 with that.

Convert does that oddity only happen when the page hasn't yet finished loading? That's when i used to notice that (before i switched to the superior Camino browser that is ;))

No. Safari shouldn't do that. What version of Safari, Convert?

In fact, it'd be helpful to know . . .

system? gfx card (if Power Mac)?
how much mem?
etc.

512 mb RAM, latest version of Safari, 1.2.4 (v125.12).

It's a powerbook, 1.33Ghz, basic 64mb Graphics card, is it possible to reinstall Safari?

And nope it just happens at any time.

Um, tough to diagnose. The only graphical glitches I've experienced are in Mail. Mail will sometimes mess up html rendering when I scroll down.

Try trashing Safari's preferences. Try also resetting Safari from the Safari (application) menu. Restart the machine after you do so.

And if that doesn't work, do try Darkshadow's suggestion of using the combo 10.2.7 updater. Go to apple.com. Make sure you get and install the _combo_ update. Sometimes installing combo updates works better than the regular incremental updates.

I wouldn't rule out a hardware problem. Have you added RAM to your machine lately?
