Hello.

I am having the issue where it creates a new home directory each time i log in and the desktop is empty and so forth. i read the article here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107854 which adresses my issue but doesn't solve it for me.

Mine goes as follows. My harddrive has been partitioned into two seperate disks. There is the HD which has all the applications and the Users, which contains music, movies, desktop; basically everything that is not loading. When I log in, it should be reading from the Users disk, where my current home directory exists, but instead it is reading from the Macintosh HD, where it is creating the new home directory.

So how do I have it recognize the correct disk?

Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

Just checked Mac Help for info on your Home Folder.
It confirms what I already suspected...

"Do not attempt to Move or Rename your Home Folder"

It would appear that OS X does not like the fact that your Home folder is not on the Boot Drive, and will insist on creating a new Folder each time it does not find the Home Folder where it expects it to be.

What you need to do is change the Netinfo entry for your user to point at the correct location for your home folder. How else will it know where it is?
