Hi, I have two patitions on my iMac G4, one with 10.2 on it, and the toher with 9.2, the two icons are both on my desktop, and when I changed the icon of my 9.2 partition, I got an error saying the NAME (?) "" was already taken. When I clicked OK, the folder was gone, and I haven't found my second partition since!
I'm sorry I'm just a kid, thats why `i don't get some of the stuff that is easy for you guys...:(

First of all I would recommend a restart if you haven't already. That alone may take care of your problem.

If it disapeared after saying something about the name being taken, my first impression is that it was named with a "." in front of it. Since dot files are hidden on unix based systems.

You might want to check the contents of the volumes folder on your computer.

open up the terminal and change your directory to "/volumes" by typing "cd /volumes"

Once you get to the folder type "ls -la" and see if it shows up there.

You might also want to check with the disk utility located in your utilities folder to see if the partition is there.

If you post back with what you find we can see if there's any way to take care of the problem.

Hey thanks man, you've helped me in more than one topics! :)
Well, a friend of mine came over and fixed it, I don't know what he's done, but I have it back now, it was so weird, it was called "HD (Mac OS 9)" so there weren't any dots in it. And not only did it disappear on my desktop, It really disappeared from my computer.. ah well, all is good now, thanks!
