For two days I've been trying to download the new Terminator 3 trailer:

The page just wouldn't load. It would load maybe broken gifs, but that's it. On all browsers.

Well I chalked it up to network traffic. Everyone in the world wants to see this trailer.

Even late at night, same problem. I even tried restarting. Today, same problem.

Until now. Finally I try going again, same problem. Dammit! So I fire up my PC just to test it out.

The PC loaded the page instantly and downloaded the movie in a few seconds.

i think it's just a sad day for solrac :D

the page loads perfectly, the medium and large format trailers loaded and played smoothly. i got an error trying to view the full screen version, but i'd already watched it twice by then so... :)

ever think maybe it's time for you to do some repair or maintanence work?
 
No, because I have a brand new fresh install of 10.2.2, (the clean install), and it can't be a hardware problem either. Every other web site works fine.

What do you think the heck could be wrong??!!!
 
well, if you've been viewing other trailers, maybe you've got a corrupted cache file or bad cookie would be my first guesses. but the fact that it occurs in all browsers make these seem unlikely. your QT might be worth looking at as well. but then it sounds like you aren't getting that far.

the problem is that I can't even get to Apple's home page. None of the graphic's load. It's like the net is too congested. Same with Yahoo.

But... i can get to my own web site fine, and macosx.com fine.

I can't view the trailer cuz it never even connects to the server! Quicktime works fine.
 
Cool link! Looks like a great movie! :rolleyes: No really sure why you're having problems though.
 
I saw that preview when i went to see LOTR: Two Towers tonight. Wasn't very impressive and is like Judgement Day with a girl"L"
X-men 2 and Bad Boys 2 were the better previews. But yes, it does suck when you can't access quicktime previews. I have dial-up and it's incredibly slow.
 
no, why is apple.com not even working here, but loads up instantly on the PC???!!! ARRGHHHHH

Apple is not working... in EVERY browser!!! Only on my mac??!!!

That is worse than the T-X!!!
 
Dunno - I read this and tried. I got a QT error trying to view fullscreen (-2129) but could watch the large one ok in Netscape 7 or IE 5.2.2 on my 10.2.2 TiBook.

Given that it is much more likely to be a local issue for you than a global one for Apple, I suggest you "get back to basics" and try a traceroute etc. to www.apple.com... If you can get to other sites ok and you say your PC can get to Apple fine as well then I am inclined to think that it is a routing problem of some sort for your Mac.

Is your PC on the same network? Does your PC have the same type of connection to the internet? What is your web connection? Who is your ISP? Do you have any applications or enhancements running that may be interfering with your connection in some way? Swap the network cables between the two machines.

I know these are simple dumb questions, but I have users who ask me things like why they can't load Java applets when it was them that actively disabled them... It is often the most obvious things that we overlook.... :)

That all said, the best part of the trailer is the end line "SHE'LL be back..." :D
 
The PC is connected to the same ISP as my mac. Same Hub, same router. The only difference is an IP address by 1 digit. I didn't try swapping cables, though, but I doubt that would've worked.

It's working now. I'm at another office on another DSL service. Maybe.... I don't know. Ahhh.
 
Hmm. ok, so if it is working at another DSL service, then that's kind of a clue don't you think?

I guess a call to your service provider asking them why you can't get through is the next stage. Maybe they are evil and anti-Mac... :eek:
 
no, my mac has worked on apple.com before, all the time. I visit apple.com constantly. It always works.

In fact, both the apple.com web site and movie trailer are both working fine now. What the hell happened the past two days????!!!!
 
i dont know if ur problem has been fixed by now. but i downloaded the new T3 trailer yesterday using chimera. nothing went wrong. and the movie looks AWESOME :)
bad boys 2 . download that one as well if u get the chance :)
