a side effect of user switching...

I am the law!
you can lock the computer! from the fast user switching menu, just select login window... viola, computer is locked.

I know you could "lock" it by using the screensaver before, but that was pretty lame if you ask me.

You can also lock the computer from the keychain folder...you can place a little "padlock" icon in themenu bar that locks the screen or user account when you click it

When I saw "side effect" I was thinking something bad.

this is a dumb question... where is the keychain folder?
I think he's referring to /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access/Contents/Resources/Keychain.menu

Although it's easier to open Keychain Access and go to View-->Show Status in Menu Bar

ahh, got it. i didnt even know the keychain program existed, lol. the only thing that seems to work is lock screen, which just activates the screensaver.

[here's an interesting theory...what if the screen saver application crashes?]

That's a week old story by now. ;-)
Someone claims that the screensaver/login app in Mac OS X is flawed and developers have received beta patches solving the bug. 14th of July (Yay France!) is said to be the day Apple's gonna release the security update.
