Q: is mac os 9.x included in panther?
A: Nope.

Q: and if install panther, would it be like format my whole computer....lost all my files?
A: Only if you do a clean install. If you get the regular version, you can do an Upgrade (converts your existing 10.2+ system to 10.3), a clean install (wipes your drive and installs 10.3), or an Archive & Install (installs 10.3 freshly, moves any other version of OS X to "Previous System"). If you get the Upgrade version, you're limited to upgrading, which can cause problems. Unfortunately, these different versions are not obvious, but fortunately the only differences between them are the techniques for installing them; the OS's themselves are identical.

Q: the new updated mac software are all inside the package right?......cause i know pc....the operating system and the software is separated.....
A: The only software included with 10.3 is the OS itself and Xcode. You have to buy 3rd-party software separately.

As for the Acrobat issue, I have no solution. Sorry.

I can't help you with the first part about the software installation, but I can with the second part. For the first part, you may want to try trashing all Adobe Acrobat related files on your system (application files, preference files) and try doing a custom install from the CDs and select only Acrobat. Also, there are updates to Acrobat you can find on http://versiontracker.com. Do a search for Acrobat and you'll find it.

OS 9 is NOT included with the retail version of Panther. You'll have to install it yourself from the OS 9 installation CD. OS 9 for Classic only is included with the Software Restore disks and you can simply drag and drop the Classic System Folder from the DVD/CD and drop it on your hard drive.

Installing Panther can be either a clean install (which would erase your hard drive), an upgrade install (which would simply upgrade whatever version of OS X you already have leaving your hard drive intact) or an archive & install (which would install Panther clean but retain most user settings and Applications).

If you have applications and what-not that you just can't reinstall for whatever reason, I would suggest an archive and install procedure.

thanks a lot.....i think after the clean install...the adobe cs will work fine....or hope so ...
thanks again.........
