about apple's wireless keyboard/mouse

Hello.

I am planning to buy Apple's wireless periphericals but I have some kind of question ...

on the web site (www.apple.com/keyboard/) we can read :

keyboard -> Uses 4 AA Alkaline Batteries
mouse -> Uses 2 AA Lithium Non-Rechargeable Batteries

My question is very simple and has basically nothing to do with Apple :

what is the difference between Alkaline and Lithium batteries ? I mean : can't I just take some of the AA rechargeable batteries I've at home and just put them inside the mouse or the keyboard ?
Just to be sure I express myself correctly : doesn't any kind of AA battery fits into the mouse or the keyboard ?

Thank you for your answers,
Pierre.

PS: I am also planing to buy a PowerBook G4 12" and I am very excited at this idea. :)

I don't know. I've just been using regular AA Duracell batteries in my mouse. So after reading your post, the manual says that it comes with Lithium batteries but that you can also use Alkaline or regular rechargeable batteries. Though, now that I've read that, that's probably why my mouse's battery life isn't as long as it was when it was brand new.

Lithium batteries generally hold more charge than alkaline batteries which in turn hold more charge than rechargable batteries.
