Access to FTP through finder...?

I thought that I could access to FTP sites through finder via "Go" and "Connect to server...". Doesn't this work what so ever or can I only use this when accessing to another mac?
 
No. You can try grabbing an FTP program from versiontracker, such as CaptainFTP. Most are shareware. Alternately, you can open a terminal and simply use the shell. Or I suppose you could use your browser and just stick it in the address bar, provided your prefs are set up and you don't need to enter a password.
