i have an acom data combo model number hd160u2fe-72 (160 GB)
i use a usb cable
my computer is a mac powerbook 400 mhz powerpc g3 with 192 mb sdram running panther
os x 10.3.9
this is what i do and what happens
scenario a
1. connect usb to acom data combo and to the mac
2. boot up the mac
3. turn on the acom data combo
4. nothing happens (acom data combo does not appear on desktop)
scenario b
1. connect usb to acom data combo and to the mac
2. boot up the mac
3. turn on the acom data combo
4. click about this mac
5. click more info (opening system profiler)
6. click USB
7. system hangs.. (i can work , but system profiler is stuck)
scenario c
1. connect usb to acom data combo and to the mac
2. boot up the mac
3. keep the acom data combo off
4. click about this mac
5. click more info (opening system profiler)
6. click USB
7. i see the usb device tree
scenario d
1. connect usb to acom data combo and to the mac
2. turn on the acom data combo
3. boot up the mac
4 during the boot up process the system hangs when it gets to disk information
(will not boot up)
5. turn off the acamdata combo
6. system boots
7. turn on the acom data
8. the acom data does not appear on the desktop
scenario e
1. connect usb to acom data combo and to a hp pavillion ze2400 running windows
xp
2. turn on the acom data combo
3. boot up
4. system hangs
scenario f
1. connect usb to acom data combo and to a hp pavillion ze2400 running windows
xp
2. keep the acom data combo OFF
3. boot up
4. system boots
5. turn on acom data combo
6. system recognizes the acom data combo and i can read/write from/to the acom
data combo.
scenario g
1. boot up the mac
2. connect usb to acom data combo and to the mac
3. turn on the acom data combo
4. nothing happens (acom data combo does not appear on desktop)
scenario h
1. boot up the mac
2. open disk utility
3. connect usb to acom data combo and to the mac
4. turn on the acom data combo
4. nothing happens (acom data combo does not appear on desktop or in disk utility)
so the bottom line is that i want to be able to see, read/write the acom data
combo while using the mac.
please give me step by step instructions!!!
i have read the FAQ on acomdata, sent scores of messages to them (no response), and tried many possible ways....
needless to say one time it worked!!!! (boot up, plug in and voila)..but since then...nada!!!...ditto with a G4...(boot up, plug in and voila)..but since then...nada!!!..
please advise ASAP!!
