Activity Monitor doesn't show disk or network graph

OS X 10.3.9, Activity Monitor 1.0(v19)iBook G4

When displaying Disk Activity or Network activity the graph box is just black.
Update frequency 5 (or 1)sec.

Disk activity sample values:

CPU graph does work.
