Activity Monitor won't launch

i was cleaning out my hd folder by folder, scanning for junk i dont need, etc. i went through the main library and home library and deleted some files. i guess i must have removed something important because now activity monitor won't launch. does anyone have any ideas other than reinstall panther?

EDIT: decided to repair permissions and restart - it now works.
