Adaptec 2906 SCSI Card driver problem in OS10.1

I'm using an Adaptec 2906 SCSI card for my external zip drive, and with the update to OS10.1 I am getting several writes per second to the /var/log/system.log file of the following form:

Sep 30 04:18:40 localhost mach_kernel: ADPT_OSI_IndicateQueueFrozen: id 6, freeze
Sep 30 04:18:40 localhost mach_kernel: ADPT_OSI_IndicateGenerationChange (nop)
Sep 30 04:18:40 localhost mach_kernel: ADPT_OSI_IndicateQueueFrozen: id 6, unfreeze
Sep 30 04:18:41 localhost mach_kernel: ADPT_OSI_IndicateQueueFrozen: id 6, freeze
Sep 30 04:18:41 localhost mach_kernel: ADPT_OSI_IndicateGenerationChange (nop)
Sep 30 04:18:41 localhost mach_kernel: ADPT_OSI_IndicateQueueFrozen: id 6, unfreeze

Presently the syslog filesize is 16MB. The latest 8/8/01 update from Adaptec did not fix the problem. The card itself functions okay.

This issue has been reported before with the Adaptec drivers: you can see it happening during verbose login. Such large syslogs can slow system performance. Anyone seeing the same thing? Anyone know of a fix yet?

System:
B&W G3-450 rev1, 708MB RAM, Acard IDE controller, Adaptec2906 SCSI controller, 15 & 20GB IDE HD in three partitions.
