add users + add group plus Darwin 1.3

I have been messing around with X for a while and noticed that groups and users are not added in etc/group or etc/passwd. It talks about NetInfo... I am new to NetInfo. What are the commands in Darwin to add users and groups (if any) without manually entering them into the etc/..... Also, any news about Darwin 1.3?

Here is darwinfo.org's basics of netinfo. Also you can check the man pages for niutil (the main net info browser) and the other ni* programs.

If you are most comfortable with editing the UNIX-style config files, the niload utility translates these into the netinfo database for you... it's pretty handy. Otherwise, I think the normal UNIX user adding tools (can't remember off the top of my head, sorry) work, too, and there are netinfo commands also.
