Adding 802.1x to Login on OS X 10.5

I am part of the dev team looking at replacing PCs with Mac's in the enterprise. One big issue I've run into so far is not being able to authenticate a network user over a 802.1x wireless network.

I found a great article that was applicable to 10.4 that outlined setting up the connection and then exporting it to the login window. That option does not seem to be available any longer and I everything I've tried as not been successful.

Any help with regards to this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

James

I see the 802.1x wireless connections at System Preferences (the link is in your Dock)->Network, Airport-Advance button (at the bottom) - 8021.x tab.

You make profiles in the Network pane by using the drop down (at the top on Network) and make a new profile for the current session & next login.

Now if you are putting Macs into an enterprise option then bookmark the page MacWindows.com. Plus remember to use /Applications/Utilities/Directory Utility and once you open it select "Show Advance Settings" to put in the Microsoft server settings. Also when you select your wireless network and it is part on a Windows enterprise domain the in the System Preferences->Network select the Advance button on then go to the WINS tab to also put in your server settings.

To mount shares (after to bind it to the Active directory) you can also use the finder menu item 'Go" and there select 'Connect to server'.

One last tip is to read Sharing files between a Windows Vista Home Edition PC and a Mac running OS X Leopard 10.5.
