adding a partition for 9

Barking at the moon.
I've been using 10.1 exclusively since it came out, and I've been completely happy. But now I MUST use Photoshop and I just can't wait for them to release an update anymore. So I'm hoping to install 9 and use Photoshop in Classic mode until Adobe gets with it.

Here's my possible solutions, but I don't know if either of them are exactly, possible: :rolleyes:

1) I could possibly split my current 10 gig iBook drive into 2 partitions, and install 9 on the new one. But can I do this w/o having to format and reinstall X?

2) I have a 20 gig FireWire HD. Would it be possible to install 9 onto that and use it for Classic mode? Thanks for any ideas!:D
 
Have you tried just installing OS 9 on the same partition as OS X? I know it works the other way (installing 9, then X on the same disk). Having both on the same partition works well for me.
 
yah, but when photoshop does come out for X, i want to erase 9 and not have loads of useless 'Classic' files lying around on my disk.
