adding dvd subs of other languages

Did I understand correctly, the DVD you have does not have or list the subs in your language on the menus, or on the DVD package?
(If that would be the case ool)
 
Then you would need to get those subtitle files extracted from another DVD of the same movie that would have them included...
Or translate and make the subtitles all by yourself if that movie hasn't been translated yet at all.
 
ok ive found those subs allready, but how do i plant them into the dvd. i guess i have to rip the dvd first to my hd, but what next, provided that i have the subs i want!
 
If you merely want to be able to watch the movie with the subs on the computer, you can use VLC. In what format are the subs that you've found? I'd rip the movie from the DVD using handbrake - http://handbrake.m0k.org - and then use VLC to play the ripped movie and the subtitles together.
 
MacTheRipper can rip files off the DVD, but I don't know how you would go about adding subtitles? A quick search reveals methods for Windows, but not mac.

If you want to add subtitles manually, you could rip via handbrake, and add via Quicktime Pro/iMovie/FCP, then re-burn.
 
I think it could work to watch the movie with VLC and tell it to use the subtitle file location.
Otherwise, Handbrake it and add the sub and then VLC it.
 
Mac OS X Dvd player does not have a function that would allow you to open a separate subtitles file while watching the movie.
 
yes i know, i dont want to watch it on OSX dvd player, i want to burn a new dvd compilation and in it i want to add the new subs! Thats what im looking for!
