Address Book 10.2 i need 10.1 help!!

So i erased my drive before installing 10.2. Unfortunatly i cant import my old address book file (which i backed up). Can some one please please stuff up a copy of address book (from 10.1) and email it to me?

For the rest of you, make sure you export your contacts as Vcards. I will post back to this thread with news about trying to recover my addresses.

not much effort required. All i am after is the address book application. Someone please email it to me!!

If anyone knows of an app that ccold read the old address book format i would appreciate it!
 
the old address book format was vCards, as far as I know, have you tried searching for them on your HD, they might be in the application support folder or something...
 
haha success!!

i created a new user, logged out logged in as the new user and then dropped my backed up Library folder in to the new user. Hey presto. Launched addressbook and it imported them easy as that!

Problem solved.

Although getting rid of the user afterwards isnt so easy. You go to delete user in the system prefs, it puts the users home folder into a dmg file and leaves the user intact!! Stupid. More of a back up than a delete. Any way deleted the old user by netinfo and trashed the users folder using the terminal and sudo.

What a mission!

I'm a happy camper now though.

I have the same problem you had.

I have my old pre 10.2 library folder backed up so I thought I'd try just copying the addresses folder into my nice clean new library folder. Nothing happended though when I ran Address Book - nothing got imported. D'oh.

Do you know what other files might be needed from the old 10.1 library? I don't really want to create a new temp user as you did unless I really have to. Must be a cleaner way.

All my addresses seem to be in that old address folder from 10.1 (as far as a I can tell from opening it in BBEdit - it's a bit messy - binary?). There must be a simple way of getting these into the new app.

What am I missing?
