Address book not responding

Address Book on iMac running OSX version 10.4.11 is not responding. I installed iWork 08 last night and tried to drag DB of names and addresses from Appleworks 6 to Address book. It froze up (the beach ball effect) and has not been able to respond since. I have to force quit to get it off the screen. I have tried re-installing with Pacifist. No luck. What next? Thanks

'... tried to drag DB of names and addresses from Appleworks 6 to Address book' - 'Address Book' of 'Tiger' (MacOS X 10.4.x) does not accept dragged on ('.cwk' or '.txt') files. Nor was the format of the DB file provided.

' ... the beach ball effect ...' - ?!, see 'Q: How do I export addresses from an AppleWorks database into Address Book?', as one example - to import AppleWorks data into 'Address Book'.

'I have tried re-installing with Pacifist.' - reinstall what?, and for what possible valid reason?
