admin password needed to install files?

everytime I install a program, it asks me for my admin password. is this something I can change/ stop?/turn off?

its very irritating. im the ONLY person using this mac.

Nope! Welcome to UNIX! On the plus side, if this bothers you, know that it only applies to packages (.pkg) files, and is a function of Installer.app, the application which installs .pkg files to the machine.
