Admin user name and Password problem

My powerbook has decided that my long time Admin user name and password is no longer correct! I know I'm entering the correct one, the password hint is even telling me I am and yes the caps lock button is off. I did a complete erase and install in July.

Ok done what you said, now more problems! I knew this was too good to be true. I reset the password and now not only will it still not let me as it says wrong password. I now have the added problem of not being able to get rid of a key chain access request each time I try to do anything.

Launch Keychain, from /Applications/Utilities, and run the first aid for it. That will sync the new password to the one in keychain.

Thanks for that, will give it a go touch wood lol. Thing is the powerbook is still telling me that Im trying the wrong password .

You will have to go under users/your user/library/keychains and trash the login.keychain. Then reboot and you should be fine. The only thing is you will lose all stored passwords in Safari.

Ok sorted the keychain problem thanks to "djackmac" but still the main problem with the powerbook not recognising my Admin Password, even though I've changed it using my startup disk.

When you change your password using the startup disk, you have to remember to click "save". Otherwise are you sure there is not a problem with your keyboard? Open textedit and type your password and make sure it is showing up as it should.

Ok still no good, think a large hammer will make it work!! Did the install disk holding down C, went to utilities.... passwords, change password etc..... clicked on save as per normal then a box comes up with a load of writing to do about the keychain, I click OK and all the password stuff I filled in goes empty again and then I go around in circles doing the same procedure. Maybe I should visit an Apple store! The keyboard is working correctly.
