Administrator Privileges?

Seems that my printer is missing from my Printer List, and when I try to add the appropriate PPD (HP Photosmart 7150), I get the following error:

"An error occurred while trying to add the selected printers. Error 2"

I downloaded the driver again from the HP site (and it's an updated one, made for 10.2.2), but when I tried to install it, I got the error message "The software to be installed requires Administrator or higher level access privileges". Problem is, I *AM* an Administrator! Therefore, how do I go about tweaking my Administrator status to relect higher access -- unless anyone else has any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hey, thank goodness for those discussion groups on the Net, eh? If you read my last email, you'll be aware that my ability to install a printer drive was impaired. This, believe it or not, is due to the installation of Safari, which deletes the /tmp alias -- which in turn causes several problems. This is covered in the Apple Knowlege Base article 107370.

The solution was to enter some code in Terminal: I opened up Terminal and entered sudo ln -s /private/tmp /tmp, and everything now works fine and dandy, printer-wise. I had problems installing my updated HP printer driver before, but after entering that line in Terminal, all is well.
