Adobe Flash Player Unrecognized

When I go to a site that requires Adobe Flash Player, I am informed that I don't have Flash Player installed and need at least version 7(I've got v10.2).
I then installed v10.3 but still get the same message.
I DO have Java enabled.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Which version of OS X do you have, and which internet browser are you using?
Is this any and all sites that try to use flash that give you that same message, or just one site? Which site is that?

Launch your Safari.
What version of Safari do you have?
Go to the Help menu in Safari, and look in Installed Plugins.
What version of Shockwave Flash does that list say that you have?

Can you view flash video at other web sites? cnn.com might be a good site to try out.

I'm getting a similar message about needing v7 when I have v10.3 installed......

....... but these messages refer to QuickTime Player NOT Flash Player.

Is there a confusion here?

++++++++++++

Safari 5.0.4 w/Shockwave Flash 10.0 r45 and SF 10.3.d180. Videos play just fine in cnn.com using Safari or Firefox 4.

Are you saying that Safari shows that you have both versions installed?
Flashplayer is one of those that I have the habit to remove the old version before updating to a newer version.
Uninstall with this uninstaller.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#ostype=m,prob1=uninst,os=m10.5,
Then, install the most up-to-date flashplayer that you have.

sgould had a good question.
does your error message say Flash, or does it say QuickTime?
There is no version 7 for Flash that you can use, but that could easily mean QuickTime...

OK, I deleted Shockwave 10.0 r45 and still have 10.3, but videos at Toronto Globe and Mail still don't play.
There's no longer the notice there that I need to install Flash; when I attempt to play a video there's a black screen with a white pinwheel which goes on and on without end.
So why would Flash be recognized(usable) on CNN but not on Toronto G&M?
