adobe flashplayer 10 not working

Really hope someone can help me before I pull every last hair on my head. I have installed Adobe Flashplayer 10 many times and can not get it to work. The installation completes and states successful but when I go to test it it asks me to download. Also when I get to certain pages it states I do not have an mime plug in to support. I am definitely not computer literate and I am hoping someone can walk me thru this. Thank you!!!
 
Re-download the same FlashPlayer version and run the uninstaller (with all browsers closed) and reboot the Mac. The install the FlashPlayer from scratch (with all browsers closed) and see if that fixes the problem.
 
I tried all the recommendation, from uninstall to a new istallation, rapier permissions, delete cache files etc. But for me the only thing that worked was a reinstallation of Os X 10.6. No problems now, updated Os X, Java and all the other stuff one by one so I could trace the source of new problems but all is wlle for the moment
