Adress Book crashes

Address book crashes, everytime i try to edit a contact. killing the prefs don't help and i do not have an installation CD. Anyone any tips how'ta fixit?

I use os 10.3.9, adress book version 3.1.2

Look here;

user>library>application support

Open the AddressBook folder and drag each file out one by one. Open AB each time you drag a file out and see if you can edit.

well, killing those files emptied the app from all data, but to no avail. My words are not very correct, the app does not crash but stalls when i click any option or button (like file-open, edit from the menu bar, or clicking on one of the entries in the address book)
