Hi Guys!

I've got my iMac 24" at last!! it's huge! awesome! beautiful! amazing!

But I can't get it to recognize my usb speedtouch 330 modem - and after a little searching there is no driver available for intel macs - doh!

So - after a little more searching I discovered that ethernet modems are the way to go. Right, so first question is: is there any difference between ADSL & DSL?? The SpeedTouch330 is DSL (came from my isp) The 2nd question is: what would people reccommend for under £50 (well cheap as possible really!)

Many thanks in advance :)

'is there any difference between ADSL & DSL?' - ADSL is a form of DSL. One can think of them as the same.

'... what would people recommend for under £50 ...' - any (under £50) DSL / ADSL modem with an Ethernet port.

As for the 'Speed Touch' products - all of the 'Residential Multi User' modems provide an Ethernet port. The SpeedTouch 546(i) has four (4) Ethernet ports

Cool - Thanks barhar :) - one last question on that though - do you know if the 546(i) is intel compatible (is this an issue at all with ethernet modems??)

Thanks again for the v useful answers above :)

hey guys - still interested in what ethernet modem would be recommended for my iMac :) any help / recommendations welcome! Pleeeease :D

If you are speaking of a 'modem' as a DSL/ADSL model, as opposed to a serial modem, then I would not use it directly at all. Especially if you wish to use the modem with multiple computers, get a router! Let the router talk to the ADSL modem, and let the computers talk to the router (possibly wireless, which is built into all new Macs).
