advice on digital recorder

i am thinking about getting a digital recorder. namely this one from sony.

well, it has a nice usb connection for pcs. but i'm wondering if they will work with osx. has anyone had experience with sony products and osx?

better yet, does anyone have a digital recorder they would recommend?
 
I would give it a try. I was told that my DSL line is not compatable to OS X. Guess what... it works withouth their software. My Sony camera works without extra software. Even the USB media reader works without software.
You might need an app to get the sound to play, but then you already have Quicktime and iTunes. :)
 
Make sure that if you decide to try it, you buy from a place that will take it back if it doesn't work. I'm guessing that it won't -- the description on Sony's site suggests that some sort of conversion is going on to get it to produce the .wav files:

...which allows recorded files to be converted to 16 bit WAV files, and High Quality Sound-"New LPEC CODEC" which ensures excellent recorded sound clarity.

I don't like the sound of LPEC CODEC... don't think QuickTime has one of those... :rolleyes:
