So uncool! Damnit!

However, can you double click and stuff?

Did you install a haxial or something similar? Did you remove a folder, an app or something?

Were you playing with Users and stuff?

Did you run disk tools and other utilities in order to check for problems?

Anyways, for ASAP use try to use keyboard shortcuts in order to do what you must do... Also, just for good or ill, if you have it, reinstall Mac OS X 10.2.6 Combo Update...

I hope that your problem will be solved ASAP... :(

Come on people! Help our Androo here! ::love::

Androo,

Give us a little more information please. What exactly happens when you try to drag and drop?

Can you actually pickup the items but they snap back when you try to copy them to the directory? If so, that sounds like a permissions problem.

Or are you unable to even grab the items? Clicking on the items to be moved does nothing?

How exactly are you connecting to this directory on the server? Are you using FTP using the Finder.app? If so, the Finder app only supports FTP read NOT write. Try using an FTP client like Fetch instead.

The last question I have would be, is this a global thing? Meaning, can you drag-and-drop anywhere or is it completely disabled?

I remember someone posted somewhere about a situation where they had two instances of the Finder running. IIRC, it resulted in symptoms like you are describing.

If running 'top' shows two Finders, it might be time for a little restorative work. :(

That came around because he did an archive & install, and one of the apps he is using was using the old Finder rather than the new one. Pretty easy fix in his case, just delete the archived system.

But this doesn't sound the same. He didn't have problems dragging stuff, just problems with stuff moved on the Desktop appearing to stay where it originally was and be wherever he moved it - consequence of one of the Finders not updating the screen.

And yeah, Androo, some more info! Or did you get it fixed? You don't seem to have looked at the thread since you first posted. :p
