Airport All of a Sudden Slow/buggy

I'm running OS X 10.4.3 on a 866 TiBook with built-in Airport. I recently noticed the speed of my network connection has gone down significantly.

I've troubleshooted it down to my laptop, by doing the following:

I have a G3 desktop plugged directly into my router/hub, and when I test the speed online, it gets ~5000kbit/sec (I have 6 Mbit cable)

My wife has an iBook with Airport, and I ran the same speed test on her laptop, and it got similar results, ~5000kbit/sec

I run the speed test on my TiBook, and it gets ~400kbit/sec (so that's around 10 times slower).

I'm using a Linksys router (latest firmware), 802.11b network. When I test my speed, I do have full signal strength. Also as a result often Mail reports it cannot connect, and often Safari reports failed connection errors also.

Why is my Tibook getting such a slow speed? I checked my Activity Monitor and it doesn't look like anything is hosing my connection, when I'm not actively doing anything no network usage is shown, and no unknown applications are running in the background.

Any ideas?
