airport base signal drops out

i got the most recent model of the airport base. After a month of happy wireless working, the signal suddenly dropped out. Couldn't reach the base, did a 5 second reset, restarted the computer, reinstalled the airport software. after that, the computer found the base, but couldn't connect to the base due to weak signal.
Next morning, the thing is working again ?!?!?!?!?! why?

The base is close enough, not next to anything that might disturb the signal (it worked fine on the spot it has now for a month), so what can i do?

Does anyone have experience (and a solution?!!!)?

The firmware version is 5.1.1. I'm running 0S 10.2.8

Hm... :-/

What provider do you have?
Where do you keep the airport? Does it have enough air around it? Are there any plants close to it? Could you try to move it to another place, lets say 10 feet from you?
What programs do you run that use internet? For example mIMac before 10.3 and the newest version, messed with the airport every time there were 2 macs on that airport (of which one running that program).
(Just trying to get some clue of potential things that could explain the behaviour) ..

I created a special biofabric free environment, placed the sacred pod a custom made felt pillow (anti-allergic) from where its holy signals can freely deverge themselves to the willing recipients...

Nope, no plants, no microwaves, 2 powerbooks, 25 cubic metres of breathing space (even enough i might add for 5 illegal immigrants to cross the border and hopefully not die during their overpriced trip, poor sods). Provider and apps don't count because accessing the Net isn't even the issue here.
Both machines have the same problem, couldn't reach the base or each other.

Hm. Do you keep the network visible or invisible? If it's visible, someone might be just using your network too much and cause it to slow down that way.

Sometime the airport here quits communicating too. The fastest bu un-orthodox fix I've found for resetting it is just unplugging the power cord for a few seconds (from the base station), that has so far solved it whenever it happens. Well, last time I did that was probably 5 minutes ago.

Good am
I started a thread on the same problem .Still no answer from Apple . Many people have the same problem . Check out the Apple Discussions/Airport Extreme/Dropped Signal .One of the fixes I used was exactly last that last post . Pull the power plug on the Airport Extreme and than let it re-set . Works sometimes .
