AirPort changes my HOST ?

I'm now logged into my girlfriend's university network from my iBook over WiFi. I happen to know that they use Cisco routers and WEP.

How come, now that I'm logged in, has my HOST environment variable been changed to something other than my usual Rendezvous name ? It's now "some long ISP-like client name"."university's domain name.ca"

I also noticed a few extra variables, SECURITYSESSIONID, which no doubt is either IPSec or WEP related.

Sounds like you have your Location set to Automatic in your AirPort Prefs. You might think about setting up a Location for your WiFi at your gfriends Uni (in the apple menu/location/network menu).

Actually, no. I do have a location set in the preferences because their WiFi requires specifc network parameters that won't be set by Automatic (preferred network, login credentials, etc).
